I’m trying to make summer last a bit longer since my family didn’t get much of one — still sheltering at home in Southern California. So I’ve made a really simple lip balm DIY that smells like citrus and gives my lips a soft shine. I didn’t have any beeswax at home, so needed to come up with a workaround. The answer: Mango Butter. A raw butter that is both soft and solid and whips up to a creamy consistency.
Lemonade Lip Balm
Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Green Leaf Mango Butter
1/2 teaspoon jojoba oil
1/2 teaspoon coconut manna (sometimes known as coconut butter —not coconut oil, not cocoa butter)
6 drops lemon essential oil
2 drops orange essential oil
2 drops grapefruit essential oil
2 drops bergamot essential oil
Directions:
In a double boiler, melt mango butter and coconut manna. When melted (it happens VERY quickly!), add 1/2 teaspoon of jojoba oil. Cool down for about 10 minutes. Add essential oil. I used a blend of several, but you could use 10-12 drops of lemon only, if you prefer! Whisk. Add melted liquid into containers.
I allowed my balms to harden on the counter, but you could also put in fridge!
I love this concoction — it gives my lips a nice shine and the scent makes me smile. I’ll be using it well into the cooler months to give me the sense summer.
Enjoy!
